# Update your AWS connection

> Review and apply a Spring Winter CloudFormation stack update in AWS.

Spring Winter checks whether your CloudFormation connection stack uses the current template. If it needs an update, the dashboard shows **Your AWS connection needs an update**.

## Review and apply the update

1. Select **Update now** in the dashboard notice.
2. Review the account and stack details in the guide. Select **Open stack in AWS**.
3. In CloudFormation, select **Update** and use the template link shown in the guide.
4. Keep the existing parameter values. Review the proposed changes and permissions.
5. Submit the update in AWS if you agree with the changes.
6. Wait for CloudFormation to show `UPDATE_COMPLETE`.
7. Return to Spring Winter and select **Check update status**.

Spring Winter does not apply the stack update for you. Closing the guide does not mark the update complete. The notice clears after Spring Winter verifies the installed template version.

Spring Winter reuses a successful status check for up to one hour. Select **Check again** to request a fresh check. A failed check does not mean that the stack is current.
